Becoming the Flower Girl
-10th June 2024
In childhood, I spurned from flowers' grace,
Their scent too strong, beauty a chase.
I never loved their fleeting bloom,
Social worth a burdensome gloom.
But flowers and love share a thread,
Both fragile, vibrant, alive then dead.
In their brightness, a light so pure,
A delicate charm, a fleeting cure.
Love, like flowers, can make us weak,
Its tender touch both mild and meek.
Initial nausea, then fades away,
Their beauty in hearts will stay.
